Two essays about TRISHA DONNELLY’s work open this issue – Trisha’s poems are also displayed here and there in the magazine since the first issue and have been for a long time now – after her shows at Kölnischer Kunstverein in Germany and Kunsthalle Zurich in Switzerland. Frog Editor in Chief STEPHANIE MOISDON shares her enthusiasm for JEROEN DE RIJKE & WILLEM DE ROOIJ’s piece for the Dutch Pavilion at the Venice Biennial, while TINO SEHGAL in the German Pavilion inspires CAROLINE SCHNEIDER. This is in fact a very “Venice Biennial” issue, with also a text by CHRIS NORAIKA on RICKY SWALLOW in the Australian pavilion, one by JENNIFER ALLEN on MYRIAM BACKSTRÖM in the Nordic Pavilion, another by MICHAEL KROME on MONICA BONVICINI in the Giardini and a quite critical one by JOERG BADER on this 51rst Biennial in general. In Venice still, Editor in Chief ERIC TRONCY falls in love again with KAREN KILIMNIK’s work at Fondazione Bevilacqua.
JONATHAN DE VILIERS did an amazing picture series in the Musée des Plans et reliefs in Paris, and the magazine features PIERRE EVEN’s second shooting for Frog, in SYLVIE FLEURY’s exhibition at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in Paris. CAMILLE ROMAN return from The BLAKE BYRNE Collection in Los Angeles with a very serious picture series, counterbalanced by the definitely funny one GILLES & VINCENT TURIN brought back from The PIERRE HUBER Collection in Lausanne, Switzerland.
